A passion for contemporary music is evident in Dr. Sanchez-Ballado's frequent commissions and performances of new compositions and other modern works. His performances have included works and premieres by composers such as Claude Baker, Wendy Wan-Ki Lee, Chihchun Chi-sun Lee, Michael Gilbertson, Adrian Childs, Brian Kelly, Thomas Allen West, Ian Brown, and John Hennecken. Recently, composers Daniel Lemer and Nathan Corder dedicated new works to Dr. Sanchez-Ballado, including Lemer's Vowel Song and Corder's Furl.
